What Is Real? Wine, Perception and Reality in an Increasingly Digital World

Wine, perception and reality in an increasingly digital world.
“What is real?”
A simple question, almost philosophical. A question that, until a few years ago, seemed to belong mainly to science fiction.
Today, much less so.
We spend much of our lives looking through a screen. We see places we have never visited, speak to people on the other side of the world, build digital identities and constantly move between physical and virtual realities.
Images can be generated.
Environments can be reconstructed.
People can be transformed.
And so the question becomes inevitable.
What does it mean, today, to be real?
For this campaign, we imagined two figures immersed in a reality that seems to belong to another world.
Virtual reality headsets cover their eyes. Iridescent materials reflect artificial colours. The landscape feels almost alien. The sky seems too purple to be real.
Everything suggests that what we are looking at might not be real. And yet, at the centre of the image, there is something extremely tangible: a bottle of wine.
You can see another world through a headset, imagine yourself somewhere else, change what your eyes are seeing. But that bottle still has weight. The glass remains cold. The wine inside has an aroma, a temperature, a texture. It can be poured. It can be drunk.
Perhaps one day we will enter virtual worlds indistinguishable from the physical one. We will walk through landscapes that do not exist, visit places that were never built and look at things no one has ever photographed. But there will still be a fundamental difference between seeing something and experiencing it.
Wine still belongs to this second world.
It comes from a real place.
From real people.
From a real vintage.
And when it reaches the glass, reality stops being an abstract concept.
It becomes something you can taste.
What is real?
Perhaps the answer is not in front of our eyes.
Perhaps it is in the glass.
The future may be virtual. Taste is still real.
